Campaign Crossroads: Presidential Politics in Indiana from Lincoln to Obama (Hardcover)
Whether by Happenstance or by political necessity, Indiana stands at the crossroads on the road to the White House. Playing hosts to the nation's chief executive on dozens of occasions, the state has also welcomed the cadre of men (and one woman) who sought the nation's highest office, but failed.
By taking the influences of Technology, transportation and communication itself, we see an evolution in the political process that is not only altogether Hoosier, but also altogether American in its quality and importance.
Using a narrative, qualitative history approach the work examines not only the rhetoric of presidents and presidential hopefuls as they cross Indiana but also the nature of campaigns and their impact on communities.
